Located in historic Alkali Flat in Downtown Sacramento, the Children's House serves the child from three to six years of age. The building itself is on the National Register of Historic Places and is the third oldest building in the City. A second building, constructed in 1996, serves infants and toddlers. Sacramento Montessori School is licensed by the Community Care Licensing Division of the CA State Department of Social Services (Facility Number 343610874 for the Infant and Toddler Communities and Facility Number 343610792 for the Children's House). Sacramento Montessori School is committed to the pedagogy, philosophy, and methodology of Dr. Maria Montessori who developed her educational approach in the late 1800's and early 1900's in Rome, Italy.
