" OMNILEARN.....Guess What I learned Today ? "
- Jane Powel, president of the OMNiLEARN Corp. combines 30 years of classroom and laboratory experience from her days teaching in schools throughout Long Island and northern California as well as time spent designing genetics curricula for the Dolan DNA Learning Center of Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory. She has been invited to sit on the New York City Biotechnology Committee and contributes time and energy to the ALSA organization. She currently resides in Tribeca, Manhattan. She is also a member of the NY Academy of Sciences and was honored in Who’s Who of American Women ’06-’07.
Tom Conigliaro is happiest weaving his two passions—writing and teaching—together. An aspiring writer with growing publications and competitive honors, Tom endeavors to spark the creative process inside each student’s mind. Whether helping students compose cogent lab reports or to imagine genetically-mutated monsters, he believes the link between science and language should be strong, well-articulated and grammatically sound.
Diane Esposito, Ph.D., is a scientist in the Wigler Lab at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory making much-needed progress on the breast cancer research front. She regularly brings her up-to-the-minute findings to the classroom, ensuring that our labs remain current.
Michael Fairchild is an accomplished photographer, videographer and graphic design artist. His work, often centering on wild animals from exotic locales, is showcased at museums and cultural centers all over Long Island as well as in National Geographic Magazine. Inside the classroom, he teaches students to capture and create their own fascinating images; first with the camera, then with today’s latest graphic design programs.
John Simunek combines a love of physics with a penchant for drama and art. Having worked in TV production for MTV and The Caroline Rhea Show, John knows how to engage an audience—which is why students love working with him.
Jessica Ward has a background in elementary education from her days at the University of Scranton, and years of television advertising experience working with FOX. She engages students with an effervescent personality and enthusiasm for creative, focused thinking.
Nick DiGregorio works with the passion, precision and drive of a rock beat. Possibly, because Nick is also a drummer in a rock band. But to describe our Lab Manager as a mere Rock-Star Scientist is to undervalue Nick's versatility. He holds a Bachelor's degree in English and is quickly becoming a polished Instructor.
The OMNiLEARN Professional Development Program:
Boosting math and language arts through science.
The OMNiLEARN Professional Development Program creates stronger, more self-sufficient teachers. This yields a growing return on investment. As teachers grow more comfortable with the labs, and how to weave math and language arts into them, they require less and less support. As the level of support goes down, costs go down.

Teaching Math & Language Through Science
Teacher Workshop
OMNiLEARN provides your teachers with a 3-hour session in the A.M., P.M., or both. Teachers learn how to use boost math and language arts skills through fun, hands-on science labs. After your teachers perform a variety of labs, OMNiLEARN Instructors work with them to identify which labs best fit into your teachers' existing curricula. We then meet with administrators to schedule subsequent lab visits.

The in-class portion of the OMNiLEARN Professional Development Program uses modeling, direct instruction, and small group teaching opportunies to guides teachers through 3 stages of development. Each stage provides appropriate levels of training, equipment and support. By the last stage, your teachers are adept at weaving math and language arts lessons into fun, hands-on science labs... by themselves!
Lab, Full Support
An experienced OMNiLEARN Instructor, accompanied by a team of trained OMNiLEARN assistants, lead your teachers and students through a series of labs. This models "best practices" for your teachers. The high adult-to-student ratio also allows your teachers to practice delivering instruction to small groups of their students. Your teachers will quickly learn to deliver instruction for that particular lab.
$10 per student, per 1 hour lab
Lab, Medium Support
This scenario allows your teacher to lead the lab, but with a safety net. An experienced OmniTech transports and sets-up all necessary equipment and supplies. In addition to assisting students, the OmniTech will also step in to answer questions and bring the lab back on track, should the teacher need help.
$6 per student, per 1 hour lab
Lab, Minimal Support
By this stage, your teachers feel very comfortable leading the labs. They require only lab supplies, equipment, and support materials; such as downloadable lab protocols, assessment quizzes, and video tutorials.
$3 per student, per 1 hour lab
