The Drum Motor is an internal drive which houses the gearbox and motor in a drum, which powers the conveyor belt. This creates a safe and clean operating atmosphere for production lines where conveyors are used.
What is a Drum Motor?
A Drum Motor is a internal driven motor were the body rotates around stationary shafts. The rotating ”drum” becomes the driving surface that drives the conveyor belt. Electric power leads pass through the stationary hollow shaft to the stator inside the motor. The entire internal mechanism, including the stator, gearbox and bearings are housed internally in the drum and are completely sealed and protected from dust and water (IP65, 66 or 67.) The oil inside the Drum Motor provides continuous lubrication for the bearings and gears, and removes heat to help cool the motor windings.
